This hipped roof timber shelter was constructed by the Brisbane City Council sometime between the late 1940s and early 1950s. It was built to the design of the “Standard Waiting Shelter – P.1008” drawn by the BCC Department of Works in 1946. This design was used by the BCC to provide shelter for members of the public at bus and tram stops. A tramline ran along this section of Alexandra Rd., and it is likely this shelter serviced a tram stop until trams stopped running in 1969. In later years, it has served as a bus shelter. The shelter has timber roof framing, and the roof is clad with corrugated metal sheeting.
