Construction of this timber hall, which was opened in 1956, began in 1954 with help from the local community. The building replaced an older public hall in the area, erected by the Little Cedar Creek community in 1890. Upper Kedron had been settled in the mid-nineteenth century, inhabited primarily by dairy and small crop farmers, and remained a sparsely populated rural area until the mid-twentieth century. Although it was not large or far enough from Brisbane to be a separate township, the area was relatively isolated and had its own community services including a school, public hall and post office by 1900. The hall was managed by trustees, mostly members of prominent local families until 2004, when trusteeship of the hall was handed over to the Brisbane City Council. The hall has provided a community focus for Upper Kedron since its opening, used for public meetings and elections as well as recreational and social functions since its opening, and is a local landmark.
