This hipped roof timber shelter was constructed by the Brisbane City Council circa the late 1940s to 1950s. It was built to the design of the “Standard Waiting Shelter – P.1008” drawn by the BCC Department of Works in 1946. This design was used by the BCC to provide shelter for members of the public at bus and tram stops. As a branch from the main Lutwyche Road tramline was built along Bradshaw and Thistle Streets during the interwar period, it is likely this shelter serviced a tram stop until the Brisbane trams stopped running in 1969. In later years, it has served as a bus shelter. The shelter has timber roof framing, clad in metal tiles with the appearance of terracotta.
