This highset detached timber house was constructed around the 1920s for workers at the Mount Crosby waterworks. Expansion works were undertaken at the waterworks in the 1920s and 1930s, and workers’ cottages were constructed to provide accommodation for employees. Houses built in this period were constructed in a second village area near the corner of Mt Crosby and Stumers Road, removed from the pumping station and the original 1890s houses, but closer to the general store and school. This house and others in the area were sold into private ownership in the 1990s following the increasing urbanisation of Mount Crosby and the declining need to house workers near the waterworks. The house is significant for its ability to demonstrate the development of the Mount Crosby Waterworks, as well as the development of house design in the area.
