This Federation era timber house was built circa 1913 on an acre of land belonging to Alfred James Robinson. At this time, Sunnybank was predominantly a farming district and records give Robinson’s occupation as a farmer and fire insurance agent. The construction of the house was financed by the Workers’ Dwelling Board which provided affordable loans to residents to assist them with constructing their own homes. In 1974, the property was purchased by Ernest and Isabella Leidke, also a farming family. The Leidkes subdivided the land from the 1950s, retaining the house on 35 perches (890 m²) until after the death of Ernest Liedke in 1975.
