This is the only surviving example of the four ANZAC cottages that were built in the suburbs of the Mid-North District. Built under the auspices of the Queensland War Council on donated a land with volunteer labour (and later with the proceeds of Art Union ticket sales), the ANZAC cottages were a community response the losses experienced by Queensland during the First World War and the sacrifices made by soldiers serving in that war.
