Gympie miner and businessman James Marden Wise acquired this land in 1862 and had established a residence in Albion (which at that time included present-day Wooloowin) by 1883. He appears to have resided there only a short time but he retained ownership of the property until his death in Gympie in 1895. His wife sold the property to Stephen Kent, a plumber, in 1899.

History
Gympie miner and businessman James Marden Wise acquired this land in 1862. Twenty years later more than half the land was transferred to the Commissioner of Railways. By 1883 Wise was resident in Albion, a district which at that time included present-day Wooloowin. Wise was a leaseholder of the No 1 North Phoenix Gold Mining Company in Gympie, which began to pay dividends in the early 1880s. This may indicate Wise built this house, and resided there only for a short period, possibly renting it out. Wise retained ownership of the property until his death in Gympie in 1895, and his wife disposed of the property in 1899. Stephen Kent, a plumber, obtained title in 1899 and was resident in the house from at least 1901, selling up in 1921.
