This graceful timber house was constructed in 1913 as an investment property for Oswald Clarence and Marcella Tulk. Oswald Tulk was a carpenter and after successfully attaining a Workers’ Dwelling Scheme loan, had the house built. It is unclear whether Tulk constructed it himself. The Tulks never resided at the property. In 1914, only a year later, the Tulks sold the property to Henry and Emma Slater. Situated on a prominent corner of Rome Street, the house provides evidence of the suburban expansion of Yeronga in the early twentieth century.
