Native fern collector Rod Pattison established a rain forest garden on a half-acre allotment during the 1980s. The densely-planted garden is unique in the country and holds the largest collection of native ferns in Australia. It includes more than 400 previously unrecorded fern species that Pattison collected during field excursions, as well as a collection of rare native and exotic variegated plants. Pattison’s garden has featured in many magazines and on television, and is acknowledged by experts in the field as a significant botanical collection.
