This timber house was built in 1920 for Joseph Dent. As a carpenter, he may have been responsible for the construction of the house. In the 1920s, Banyo was a small outer suburb of Brisbane, situated along the Sandgate rail line. At this time there were only 400 people in the area, including several farmers and shopkeepers. By the 1940s the population of the area had increased to 3000. The Dent residence is a reminder of Banyo’s early development in the 1920s.
