T.C. Beirne Warehouse (former) (QHR)

The building on the corner of Ann and Duncan Streets was constructed in 1909 as part of expansion of the T.C. Beirne emporium. T.C. Beirne and Co was one of the largest department stores in Fortitude Valley and played a fundamental role in the development of the Valley as an attractive commercial precinct in the first half of the twentieth century. The building was designed by prominent firm Hall and Dods, as were the other buildings in the Beirne complex, and formed an impressive frontage to Ann Street for the T.C. Beirne Company.
