This property was acquired in January 1923 and gazetted for police purposes in April. However it was another six years before a new station with cells and stables was erected. Robert Dempster successfully tendered for the construction work in September 1929, which he undertook at the cost of £1640. Typical of suburban police stations of the time, it took a very domestic form and included a residence for personnel associated with the station. Still in use as a police station today, the building survives as a rare, substantially intact example of an interwar police station that has been modified throughout in line with the changing requirements of policing.
