This timber hall was built circa 1926 as the Sunnybank School of Arts, twelve years after the Sunnybank Farmers’ and Progress Association requested that an acre of the existing recreation reserve be set aside for a School of Arts. Funds raised by the Progress Association financed the construction of the hall. In 1945, control of the building was taken over by the Brisbane City Council. The hall has been used by many community groups including the Sunnybank Progress Association, Sunnybank Repertory Theatre Company, the CWA and has served as a theatre, dance studio, local library and child care service.
