This three storey block of masonry flats on the corner of Hillside Crescent and Eden Lane is likely to have been built in the late 1930s-early 1940s. During the interwar period, purpose built flats became a popular new type of accommodation in Brisbane particularly in suburbs close to the city that were well serviced by public transport such as New Farm, Albion and Clayfield. ‘Eden Court’ at Hamilton is one of several blocks of flats built in the area during the interwar period including ‘Greystaines’ (1934) at 240 Kingsford-Smith Drive. It appears that both ‘Eden Court’ and Eden Lane were named after David Ralph Eden, who owned the site in Eden Lane from 1882 to 1908.The flats are modern in design and feature a panel of vertical fins above the entrance reminiscent of the Art Deco style of the Interwar years.
